A chance for voluntary and community groups to get involved in the South Glos JSNA update.

Are you part of a voluntary or community group in Yate? South Gloucestershire’s Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) is being updated. The JSNA identifies current and future health and wellbeing needs and influences how services are planned and funded. This includes services provided by the voluntary and community sector.

The Care Forum would like to hear from the health and social care VCS to ensure its views and knowledge is represented in the JSNA. There will be three focus groups in June for the VCS, all of these are the same and you only need to attend one.

Arts For Life

The range of arts we use to inspire and challenge the young people on each Arts For Life course include dance, graffiti, circus skills, animation, film making, music production, photography, sculpture and drama. Young people work on their own and in a team.

Arts For Life

During the courses there’s a strong focus on conflict resolution, respect and personal space. We confront disruptive behaviour using one to one mentoring and team building.

At the end of each course everyone takes part in a public performance or exhibition – showing their parents, friends and teachers what they have achieved and how far they’ve come. Click here to visit the Arts For Life website.

Kingswood Community Drum Circle

Kingswood Community Drum Circle

KCDC is all about bringing people together through drumming.

Drumming is an ancient form of music and is a simple but powerful form of communication!

This drumming circle has been set up to allow people to come and explore their inner rhythm... we all have one... it can be as simple as a heartbeat!

Kingswood Community Drum Circle takes place every Wednesday from 8 till 9pm. This is a welcoming and laid back drum circle! No musical experience is necessary - we provide the drums, and there is no right or wrong way to play.

There is a small fee of £3/ £2 concessions which covers room hire... we have a great space to make some noise at the Creative Youth Network.

Orchard Workshop

Orchard Workshop was founded by Janet Parsons, who is also our co-ordinator. It has evolved over the years since Janet first set up the charity in 1986.

Originally the name of the charity was Girls Workshop, reflecting the work done with girls and women. Now Orchard Workshop offers people of all abilities and ages the opportunity to develop their creativity and skills in practical crafts.

Our courses are led by local professional artists and tutors, skilled in woodwork, jewellery and silversmithing, stained glass, pottery, woodturning, enamelling, metalwork, drawing and painting. We also have specialist tutors in literacy and numeracy.

Orchard Workshop provides a welcoming and supportive environment in which to develop your ideas and talents. We offer courses for all aged 8 – 80+! Our team of creative tutors help you to achieve your artistic and personal goals. Courses are designed for small groups so there is time to meet people and make new friends.

We are committed to working with people with a broad spectrum of interests, including those with special needs and learning difficulties.

Come and join us in learning new skills and crafts and have some fun!
