Do you have unwanted or broken electrical items lingering at home? Here's an opportunity to recycle your small waste electronic and electrical equipment (WEEE) for free this month, at an event being held by South Gloucestershire Council’s recycling and resource management contractor SITA UK.
Sarah Ottaway, Waste Minimisation Manager at SITA UK says: “Too many unwanted electrical devices still end up in landfill, and so in partnership with South Gloucestershire Council we are holding this event where you can bring your surplus small electricals for recycling - if it has a plug on it or uses batteries then we can get it recycled.”
“If you have an unwanted electrical item still in good working order, then why not find it a new home with a friend or relative? If that’s not possible, or if your item is at the end of its life, then please do the next best thing and bring it along to one of our events for recycling, where you will help prevent waste and enable new items to be produced with less need for fresh raw materials”, added Sarah.
Toasters, irons, kettles, games consoles, DVD players, electrical toothbrushes and similar small electrical items (anything with a plug or that uses batteries) can be taken along.
