Handy hints to help your food last longer and avoid waste from SITA UK:
1) Keep your fridge between 1-5°C and your freezer at -18°C to keep your food fresher for longer
2) Feed your freezer with food close to its use by date or leftovers to be used for another day. A full freezer works more efficiently, so you can save money on your electricity bills at the same time!
3) Keep track of your kitchen cupboards. Take note of items that need to be used first and plan your meals using these ingredients.
4) Keep potatoes in a dark, dry, cool place out of the plastic bag to make them last longer.
5) Remove pre-packed salads from their plastic packaging and place in a sealed container to help stay fresher for longer.
