Royal School of Needlework: Developing Silk Shading: Fox
Often referred to as painting with a needle, silk shading is achieved using a variety of long and short straight stitches and colour blending to create an almost photographic quality.
This course will set you up with the basic skills needed to develop this beautiful technique in order to replicate the texture of fur. Taught in a small informal group, you will learn how to create split stitch and long and short silk shading using stranded cottons to create a simple Fox design.
This class would be most suitable for those who have tried silk shading before.
Cost £103.00. The class kit will include everything you require to complete the project. You may like to bring your own embroidery scissors and you will be able to borrow ring frames, magnifiers and lights (if needed) on the day.
The Royal School of Needlework's satellite teaching centre runs a varied programme of classes throughout the year on set dates. Our classes are ideal if you’re a complete beginner or if you’re looking to learn additional techniques and develop existing skills. Click below to find out more.
